Procedure Text


Procedure text is a text which is contained about how to create and use something with a series of explanations or steps.
Goal/Purpose of text: is set of steps that should be completed in the right sequence to get the goal. General Structures: Tittle of the text (especially for a recipe), optional, not for all procedural text. A series of steps oriented to achieve the goal.
Language features: mostly use simple present tense, sequencers (temporal conjunction), and sub-ordinate conjunction.

Example:
 How to Activate a Cell Phone
Nowadays, we need a cellphone to contact to our colleagues, friends even family. We can get it easily in the shops. When we buy a cell phone, we also get a SIM card, a buttery, and charger.
Steps :
This is the way to activate the cell phone:
  1. Open the cover of the cell phone. 
  2. Insert the SIM card after being installed. 
  3. Insert the battery inside. 
  4. Cover the battery with the phone back cover. 
  5. Connect the lead from the charger to the bottom of the phone. 
  6. Connect the charger to an AC wall outlet. Charging the battery supplied with the phone may take four up to six hours.
  7. When the battery is fully charged, the bar stops scrolling. Disconnect the charger from the AC out and the phone. Then we are ready to make a phone call.
