Descriptive Text




Descriptive text is a text that used to describe place, person, or certain things specifically. Examples of descriptive text are encyclopedia, histories, and magazine.
Goal/purpose of the text: to describe a particular phenomenon of people, thing, and landscape.
General Structures: 
Identification - introduce who, where is being described.
Descriptive - size, volume, body, standard, superiority, attitude, behavior, act, etc.
Language features: Pronouns, to be, nouns, noun phrase, adjective, preposition.

Example 1 : 
               My sister, Alexa is a high school student. She always has three meals everyday; breakfast, lunch, and dinner. She usually has breakfast at about 06.00 am. She mostly has rice, a fried egg, and a glass of milk. At about 01.30 pm, he has Fried chicken and soup for lunch. and a glass of tea to drink. For dinner, my sister and I usually eat rice and drink mineral water. 


Example 2 : 
         The Lasser Slow Loris is a mammal which can clamp onto branches for long period of time. To help it do this, The Loris has a network of blood vessel, called rate miracle in its forearms and sharks. It is a small mammal which is 7-10 inches long  (175-250 mm) and can weight as much as 12 ounces or 340 grams. Being nocturnal, the Loris has large round eyes. The Loris has no tail but has an enlarged thumb and a reduced index finger.
         The Lasser Show Loris is a plump animal with, think for ranging in color from light brown-grey to deep reddish-brown with a dark stripe down the back and neck. It has a long snout with comb like front teeth which are used in grooming.
         It is found in Shouthern Asia, Vietnam Borneo, and Sumatera. As it is tree-living, it is restricted to tropical rain forest. The diet of the Loris is made up fruit and leaves, tender shoots, insect, birds, small mammals, and reptiles. It is nocturnal and sleeps by day, rolled up in a ball.
