Clause

Clause adalah anak kalimat yang masih memiliki induk kalimat. Clause terdiri dari main clause (induk kalimat), independent clause dan subordinate clause (dependent clause). Dalam Bahasa Inggris kalimat yang terdiri dari dua kalimat atau lebih, main clause dan subordinate clause disebut complex sentence (kalimat majemuk).
Ada empat jenis clause yaitu adjective clause, noun clause, and adverb clause.

Adjective clause
adalah subordinate clause yang berfungsi sebagai kata sifat yaitu clause yang menggambarkan suatu benda dengan sifatnya.
Contoh:

1. The boy who lives near my house is tall.
who lives near my house merupakan kata untuk menerangkan "the boy"
clausa tersebut berfungsi sebagai kata sifat untuk the boy, maka itu disebut adjective clause.
2. I thanked the man who helped me.
3. The bag which is pink is hers. 
4. The girl that I met at the mall was my classmate. 
5. The villa where he was born was very crowded.
6. I always remember the day when I met her. 
7. Anything she cooks is delicious.
8. There are 15 students in my class, most of whom come from Singapura. 
9. He has a unique house. The back of it has swimming pool. 
10. The elevator is out of order, which disappoints us. 

Noun Clause
Noun clause merupakan subordinate clause (anak kalimat) yang berfungsi sebagai kata benda (noun). Noun clause bis amenjadi subjek maupun objek dalam sebuah kalimat.
Contoh:
1. I got what you mean.
2. I don't know why she leaves.
3. What she said makes me happy.
4. I don't know where he teaches.
5. I don't know whether/if Lady gaga will come to Indonesia.
6. We know the sun rises from the east.
7. Teacher informed, "Today is a holiday,"

Adverb Clause 
Adverb clause merupakan subordinate clause (anak kalimat) yang berfungsi sebagai adverb yang menerangkan kata kerja dan kata sifat. Adverb terdiri dari adverb of time, place, cause and effect, purpose and result, condition, contrast/consession, manner and reason. Clause ini juga balasan dari when, where, how, why. 

Contoh:
1. I go to Malang after I graduate from high school.
2. I will go to lunch when she comes to see me. 
3. We waited until she finished her homework.
4. They have worked here since 1988.
5. I have played tennis since I was a young girl. 
6. The first time I went to Australia, I was intimidated by the city.   
7. I met Kiano the last time I went to Jakarta.  
8. If she comes, We will have some quality time.  
9. Even if she has a lot, she won't be able to afford that house.  
10. In the case you neede me, I'll be there. 
11. Only if you do good on your exercise will give you a new bicycle.
