Past Continuous Tense (I was doing)

Past Continuous Tense adalah bentuk waktu yang digunakan untuk menyatakan kejadian yang sedang berlangsung dimasa lampau pada saat hal yang llain juga sedang terjadi.

Rumus
(+) S+Was/were+V-ing+O
(-) S+Was/were+Not+V-ing+O
(?) Was/were+S+V-ing+O

Examples:
(+) Benny was studying Math last night when his mother phoned him.
(-) Benny was not studying Math last night when his mother phoned him.
(?) Was Benny studying when his mother phoned him?

(+) While Ana and Ani were cleaning their bedroom, somebody knocked the door.
(-) While Ana and Ani were not cleaning their bedroom, somebody did not knock the door.
(?) Were while Ana and Ani cleaning their bedroom, somebody knocked the door?

(+) I was closing the door when there was somebody in front of my house.
(-) I was not closing the door when there was not somebody in front of my house.
(?) Was I closing the door when there was someone in front of me?

Past Continuous Tense+Simple Past Tense
Seperti yang sudah dikatakan bahwa Past Continuous Tense adalah suatu bentuk waktu yang digunakan untuk menyatakan kejadian yang sedang berlangsung dimasa lampau pada saat hal yang llain juga sedang terjadi. Atas pernyataan tersebut, maka kita sering menggunakan Past Continuous Tense dengan Simple Past Tense. Kita menggunakan Past Continuous Tense untuk menyatakan kejadian yang panjang, dan kita menggunakan Simple Past Tense untuk menyatakan kejadian yang singkat yang terjadi diantara kejadian yang panjang. Maka kita menggabungkan dengan while atau when.
